Evolution: we need a houseWaldmark, 28 April 2008Evolution is one of my favourite debating subjects. With evolution I mean the Hypothesis of Evolution, or, as most people would insist, the Theory of Evolution. Every now and then I think of a challenge for the mind, reason and common sense versus belief in Evolution. Here is another. Should our world today indeed have been caused by evolution, then why is it that the stones of the earth have not evolved into houses? Mankind needs houses. Science declares that everything that exists, does exist because the need for it prompted it into being by a multi-million year long evolution process. Well, man needs a house, so why are there none to be found on the face of the earth other than those built by man? A house is infinitely less complex than for instance an eye, yet an eye has all the necessary support structures in place next to the eye itself, but men and women do not have the life support structure of a house unless they build one. With a house I do not mean, of course, a palace or some other elaborate building. Rather, I mean some kind of shelter. We watch the news on television and see countless men, women and children devastated by floods, landslides, earthquakes and wars. What is it that Help Organisations are crying out for? Medicine and tents! Shelter against the rain and cold. The basic support structure for people to survive. So, why did evolution not provide some form of shelter? Why is it that a homeless person is much more likely to die than someone who lives in a house? Or is this all part of the grand design of the Survival of the Fittest (the cornerstone of Evolution)? Only the fit (or able-minded or mean or clever or whatever) are in a position to earn enough money to buy a house or a tent. So they survive. Others, who are less fit, who are unable to earn enough money to buy a house or a tent, must die? Not fit to survive the Struggle? I really think that ‘Survival of the Fittest’ is the most heart-rendering, detestable, brutal and inhuman system that anybody could think of. So why does almost everyone believe in it? Out of a free choice? If there are two philosophies that are not compatible, they must be Humanism and Evolution. They are mutually exclusive. Then why do so many subscribe to both of them? | Choose font size |
